The Town of Green Valley contracts with the Green Valley-Morgan Fire Company, Inc for our fire fighting and fire prevention services. The Green Valley-Morgan Fire Company, Inc. is a non-profit fire corporation that serves the towns of Green Valley and Morgan and provides requested aide to surrounding communities.
Materials that may NOT be burned – Rules of the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources prohibit anyone from burning any of the following materials under any conditions:
- Garbage
- Carpet
- Electronics
- Foam
- Furniture
- Metal
- Oily substances, such as oily or greasy rags, oil filters, etc.
- Painted/stained/treated wood
- Plastics of any kind, including plastic bottles and plastic bags
- Shingles and tar paper
- Tires and other rubber products
- Vinyl (i.e., siding)
- Wire
- Structures of any kind (homes, barns, sheds, etc.)
- Agricultural plastics/plastic film
The Green Valley – Morgan Fire Company would ask that you contact the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department at (715) 526-3153 to report that you are going to have a ‘controlled burn’; just give them the location and time you plan to burn. (Do not call 911, use the non-emergency line.) We have had several calls in the past that have been reported by cell phone users driving by and they result in a false alarm. If you do see a fire, please stop and check to see if someone is tending to the fire. If there is no one watching the fire, then please call it in and we will respond to remedy the situation.
